The San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC) Chicanx/Latine Faculty (CLF) Task Force exists to promote equity and inclusion, and to improve the status of Chicanx/Latine people on campus and in our community.  San Joaquin Delta College has 49.45% (2019,Chancellor's Office) of students who identify as Chicanx/Latine. The CLF is working to ensure that our staff and faculty makeup and our campus culture is representative of this significant number. 

 

History of the CLF

The Chicanx/Latine communities are Indigenous and a diverse people. We come from multiple continents, countries, and life experiences. Our language may be indigenous, differ from country, and even region. Despite these differences, we are united in our struggles. San Joaquin Delta College has 49.45% (2019,Chancellor's Office) of students who identify as Chicanx/Latine. We as tenure-track, full-time faculty are aware of the economic, social, political and health barriers as well as multifaceted institutional racism facing our community. The original group of tenured faculty known as the Chicanx/Latine Faculty were formally recognized under a memorandum of understanding signed June 1, 2021. Our goals are to advance work in the interest of our Chicanx/Latine students, staff and colleagues in the following areas:
