I have always enjoyed observing the arts; however, I never attempted to produce anything.  After returning to college after many years, I decided to challenge myself – drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. It is challenging, relaxing, and gratifying. I am looking forward to learning more about art and completing more ceramic and sculpture classes – perhaps, an Art degree is in my future. I wanted my ceramic assignment to mean something and not be tossed, therefore I created a representation of my son as a force of nature – making an impact in the world. This is to remind him he has the ability to help determine the currents of the world and the flow of change in our society and speak out with the roar of a lion. He was born in March, therefore I used scales which depict Pisces, an image of the dragons because he was born in 2000 - the year of the dragon, and the currents of the ocean which represent change. I believe he will appreciate my efforts and exhibit it.
