I am a Stockton native of 21 years. I study studio art at Delta College with a focus on painting, but I prefer practicing all mediums such as collage, mixed media, printing, zines, drawing, digital, film photography, and singing and songwriting. I have always been passionate about the arts, but began focusing on it as a career in high school when I started my own online page to sell my work across the country. I also met a long time mentor and art teacher in high school who nurtured my interests and helped me not only develop and hone my talents, but showcase in local shows as well as begin my networking and work ethic as an aspiring freelance artist. In college I studied studio art and took (too) many painting classes and showcased my work at my favorite cafe and place of work, Terra Cafe. At my work, then located at the Mexican Heritage Center art gallery, I met a community of artists who welcomed me to join their drawing clubs and showcasings. Through my work, I also met the artists who I co-created the artist collective Creative Community Healing Arts Initiative (CCHAI), a collective I co-manage that makes the arts accessible to all people, supports and uplifts local artists, and in these times, spreads the healing aspects of art to those in need by creating murals for memorial events, community events, distributing free art kits to the public, and more. I also work as a kids zine instructor for Tuleburg Press and am a freelance artist specializing in murals, portraits, and album covers. I enjoy my work as a commissioned artist and enjoy working with my clients to make their ideas come to life, but my personal work will always have my heart. My personal work reflects my personality, deepest thoughts, struggles, and beliefs. I often depict themes of life and death, discomfort, and individuality, and much of my work is self portraits. Art has always been a part of my life, and has been a means of expressing my thoughts. One of the most significant reasons I enjoy putting my personal work out for the public to see is because I love to connect with people/connect people together by being transparent and vulnerable about who I am and what I feel. Art not only helps me, but plenty of people feel less alone no matter the medium.
