The abundance of alone time and the bravery to try something new is the true inspiration behind the works I’ve submitted. Quarantining has allowed me to pick up a new hobby, and stray away from the fear of other people's opinions. I’ve placed my new found confidence into my paintings. Both pieces were created using a paint pour technique. The flow of the thinned acrylic paint allows the pieces to be manipulated in an assortment of ways, while using a variety of tools. A hair dryer, a straw, the bottom of a water bottle, a damp paper towel, and a chopstick were used in the process of creating these pieces. These paintings reflect my new found ability to utilize my surroundings to create something new. At the same time, the process of producing art has aided in the release of stress during an overwhelming time. When I’m pouring paint I feel relaxed and unconfined. Painting is the only time I feel free to be messy and make mistakes.
