Until last year in college, I did not think of myself as an Artist. I always saw myself as an aspiring artist, thinking I will never reach the title of Artist. After being in two painting classes I realized that I already had that talent within me. It took me by surprise whenever Professors would assume I’m an art major; it was such a nice compliment. Although I may not attend college as an art major, I still hold art close to my heart and it will forever be my passion. Here you see my acrylic works but wait until you see everything else that I can do.
Honestly, I don’t have much of an artistic process outside of art classes. I would usually just stare at a blank canvas and hold my head in my hands until I got bored, and then I would close my notebook and try another day. But for these classes, I followed the guidelines the professor set. The most I would do is give a creative spin on the “rules” for each painting. I didn’t care if it hurt my grade, if it was cool, it was definitely painted. For example, while everyone else painting a natural earthy landscape, I painted the cityscape of Stockton. Why not? It was fun!
For now, my educational goal is to be the first woman in my family to have a bachelor’s (in Psychology) and the first woman to own a small business. However, my artistic goal is to expand expand expand. Expand into what? Who knows?1 But I know I just want to create something different every time. I hope you find the difference in these paintings. :,)
