About the Office

Delta College recognizes that basic needs have a direct impact on the mental-emotional-physical health, wellness, academic performance, professional development, and holistic success of students. The District strives for equitable access to basic needs through student empowerment, community collaboration, advocacy, and institutional integration. The District believes access to food and housing is a guaranteed right for every person and refuses to accept hunger, malnourishment, and homelessness.

The Student Pantry

The Student Food Pantry offers free groceries and essentials to help support enrolled Delta students.

Location: Shima 101

Hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Wednesdays: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Need help buying groceries? CalFresh (SNAP/EBT) offers up to $281 a month for healthy food. Meet with an ambassador to apply in person or on Zoom.

Free Laundry Service

Free Laundry service is available to qualified students during the semester. 

Location: H1 Parking Lot

Hours: Tuesdays 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 a.m.

Book Vouchers

The Basic Needs Center provides book vouchers to eligible students to help offset the cost of course materials. 

Voucher Details 

  • Vouchers are valued at up to $200 (maximum) per student.
  • Up to $50 may be used toward school supplies; the remaining balance (or the full $200) may be used toward course books.
  • This voucher cannot be used for food, clothing, or electronics. 

Eligibility Requirements 

To request a book voucher, students must meet all of the following criteria: 

  • Have a current FAFSA or California Dream Act on file with no outstanding to-do items.
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 1 unit.
  • Demonstrate financial hardship that prevents the purchase of required books. 

Students who already receive a book voucher through another campus program (e.g., EOPS) are not eligible for the Basic Needs Book Voucher. 

How to Apply 

  1. Confirm you meet all eligibility requirements listed above. 
  2. Schedule an appointment with the Basic Needs Center
  3. Or visit the Basic Needs Center in Danner Hall, Room 202 during walk-in hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  4. We highly recommend calling ahead at (209) 954-5836, as walk-in availability may fluctuate during busy periods, campus events, or professional trainings.
