Hospitality and Winery

Upon successful completion of the Hospitality Front of House Essentials certificate, the student demonstrates skills, knowledge and training for employment in entry level front of the house positions in the hospitality industry to include, restaurants, hotels, country clubs, resorts and catering. This course of study will provide students technical, practical and conceptual skills for many employment opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Upon successful completion of the Hospitality Front of the House Service Operations certificate, the student demonstrates skills, knowledge and training for employment in front of the house positions to include a server in the hospitality industry at restaurants, hotels, country clubs, resorts and catered events. This course of study will provide students technical, practical and conceptual skills including wine knowledge and service standards which may lead to enhanced employment and earning opportunities.

Winery Event Coordinators work with a winery property by creating, selling, planning, managing, promoting and executing weddings, concerts, release/club parties, industry tastings and more. This is a very exciting and diverse career. Upon successful completion of the Winery Event Coordinator certificate, students will have experience participating in the organization and execution of an event which may include a wine tasting or catering at a winery. Coursework will provide understanding how to create profitable events through proper planning, targeted marketing and cost management. This will prepare the student for an entry level position in the Winery Events Industry.

The Winery Sales and Marketing certificate will prepare the student to enter the wine industry workforce in Tasting Room and Retail Winery Operations and Sales. This could lead to a career in Winery Outside Sales as well as Sales Positions with Distributors. Upon successful completion of the Winery Sales and Marketing certificate, the student will demonstrate skills, knowledge, and training necessary for entry level employment or career advancement with understanding of basic Winery Tasting Room Operations and Sales techniques in upselling, cross selling and wine club enrollment. This will prepare students to work in Winery Tasting Rooms and Direct to Consumer Sales positions.

Upon successful completion of the Winery Tasting Room Associate certificate, the student will demonstrate basic skills and knowledge to gain employment in a winery tasting room. Areas of focus are customer service, managing groups, direct sales techniques and use of Point of Sales systems, inventory and promotions. In addition, the wine core classes give students a thorough understanding of winemaking procedures, principles of wine tasting and analysis, computer programs used in wineries, and knowledge of wines produced locally, regionally, and internationally. This certificate may be stacked to complete the Winery Event Coordinator certificate or Winery Sales and Marketing certificate.
