The English Department prepares you to meet the literacy challenges of the 21st Century. We nurture the reading, writing, and critical thinking abilities of our geographically large and demographically diverse communities.

Specific course sequences will assist you in achieving your educational goals. The English 78 and 87 series enables basic skills learners to acquire language proficiency guaranteeing their participation in the economic and civic life of our valley. The English 79 and English C1000 series trains certificate and Associate Degree candidates in the literacy skills demanded by the professions they are entering. The department's English C1000, 1B, and C1001 courses along with literature courses will prepare you for successful transfer to a four-year institution.
