Biography
Prior to joining the faculty here at Delta College, Cassandra Opiela taught English composition for 6 years at several Sacramento area community colleges. She earned a bachelor's degree from UC Santa Cruz in Modern Literary Studies, with a minor in Politics and a master's degree from Sac State in English, with a creative writing emphasis. Cassandra won Sac State's Bazzanella Literary Award for graduate fiction in 2008. She believes that freshman college composition courses are her opportunity to help students see themselves as scholars, and is committed to giving as many students as possible a chance to experience that.
