College Early Start for Adult Education Students

This program is designed for adult education students who are active in HSD / HSE / GED programs, with current agreements with San Joaquin Delta College.

Below are the steps to take San Joaquin Delta College courses under SB554:

Eligibility Requirements

  • Current Adult School Enrollment:
    Must be actively enrolled at an adult school in a High School Diploma (HSD), High School Equivalency (HSE), or GED program.
  • Adult School Agreement:
    Your adult school must have a current agreement with San Joaquin Delta College for you to qualify under SB 554.

Counselor Sign-Off Required

  • Designated Approval Only:
    Only the onsite adult school counselor and authorized administrator may approve SB 554 participation.
  • SB 554 Form Process:
    You will work directly with your adult school counselor to complete and sign the SB 554 form.

Delta College Requirements

  • Student ID Needed:
    You must already have a San Joaquin Delta College student ID before proceeding.
  • No Class Enrollment Before Approval:
    You cannot register for Delta classes until the SB 554 form is officially processed.

Fees & Coverage

  • Not Retroactive:
    SB 554 does not cover fees incurred prior to your adult school enrollment in HSE/GED/HSD.
  • Unit & Fee Responsibility:
    SB 554 covers up to 11 units per semester.
    You are responsible for any fees beyond the 11-unit limit.
