Asian and Pacific Islander American Empowerment Learning Community (APIAE) was first started in Fall of 2023 to engage students to learn about the Asian American and Pacific Islander community as well as history from an AAPI lens. APIAE fosters educational achievement, personal empowerment, and civic engagement with an ethnic study approach.

 

Learning Community Classes

Fall

  • History 34, Asian Pacific American History, 3.0 units (DELTA/CSU/UC/UOP)

Spring

  • Ethnic Studies 36, Asian American Studies, 3.0 units (DELTA/CSU/UC/UOP)
  • Political Science 1, American Government, 3.0 units (DELTA/CSU/UC/UOP)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a new student or current student
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA and be in good standing with the college
  • Make a two-semester commitment
  • Meet with EPICenter counselor and complete a Student Education Plan (SEP)
  • Participate in scheduled APIAE and EPIC activities
