Real Estate Certificate of Achievement
Upon successful completion of the Real Estate Certificate of Achievement, the student demonstrates skills, knowledge, and training for entry-level positions such as real estate sales associates, property management, real estate appraisal, or assistants in real estate offices. The student demonstrates their ability to: perform the essential services necessary for the buyers and sellers of real property thereby providing for the orderly transfer of property such as helping buyers finding property that meets their needs and financial resources; obtain property listings; make preliminary estimates; anticipate prospective buyers' questions; prepare a purchase agreement; work with title or escrow companies, lenders, home inspectors, and pest control operators to facilitate the completion of the transaction; and meet requirements for state licensure as a salesperson. The student who specializes in property management demonstrates skills, knowledge, and training to oversee the day-to-day management of income-producing commercial and residential properties and manage the common property of condominium associations. The student who specializes in real estate appraisal demonstrates the skills, knowledge, and training to compute estimates of value of real property which are required when property is bought, sold, assessed, taxed, condemned, insured, or mortgaged. NOTE: Please refer to the California Department of Real Estate website for licensing information. A license is required of individuals who conduct licensed real estate activities as described by California Real Estate Law. Students are encouraged to continue their real estate training for professional development throughout their careers.
Real Estate, AS
The Real Estate Associate in Science degree is designed to develop a strong base of knowledge and skills that will serve as a foundation for further study and/or pursuit of a career. Students will gain knowledge and skills necessary to serve as a real estate professional, including basic real estate terminology and concepts related to real estate law, sales, finance, property management, real estate appraisal, and related fields. The degree provides the basic background and information needed as a future employer of sales people in real estate, as well to serve in a variety of roles operating in the real estate industry (e.g., developers, government agencies, escrow companies, loan officer, mortgage banker, property manager). Upon successful completion of this degree, including the related Salesperson and Broker certificates, students will be able to: 1. Meet the requirements set by the State of California to qualify to take the Real Estate Salesperson and Broker licensing exams. 2. Prepare the student to successfully pass the State of California Real Estate Salesperson and Broker licensing exams. 3. Define the role, responsibility and ethical conduct of a licensed real estate professional in California. Upon successfully completing all California Department of Real Estate (DRE) requirements, including passing the examination, a license will need to be approved by the DRE. For additional information regarding the California Real Estate Broker and Salesperson licenses. The license is required of individuals who conduct licensed real estate activities as described by California Real Estate Law. Students are encouraged to continue their real estate training for professional development throughout their careers.
Real Estate Broker Certificate of Achievement
Building off of the four (4) courses required for the Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement, the purpose of the Real Estate Broker Certificate of Achievement is to help a student complete the additional five (5) courses required to take the California Real Estate Broker licensing examination. Prior to taking the California Real Estate Broker's License Exam, the applicant must have completed five (5) required core courses and three (3) additional elective courses (see https://www.dre.ca.gov/examinees/requirementsbroker.html). The courses included in this certificate are designed to fulfill the coursework requirements for a student to take the written examination for a Real Estate Broker license, as well as to help develop a plan to launch a successful real estate career upon graduation. These courses also provide the basic background and information needed as a future employer of sales people in real estate. Upon successfully completing all California Department of Real Estate (DRE) requirements, including passing the examination, a license will need to be approved by the DRE. For additional information regarding the California Real Estate Broker license, refer to http://www.dre.ca.gov. The license is required of individuals who conduct licensed real estate activities as described by Real Estate Law in California. Students are encouraged to continue their real estate training by completing the requirements for the Real Estate A.S. degree or Certificate of Achievement. To earn a certificate of achievement, students must complete each of the required courses with a "C" grade or higher.
Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement
The purpose of this certificate is to help prepare a student to take the Real Estate Salesperson licensing examination. The courses listed in the Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement will qualify a student to take the written examination for a real estate salesperson license (see https://www.dre.ca.gov/examinees/requirementssales.html). Upon successfully passing the examination and other California Department of Real Estate (DRE) requirements, a license will need to be approved by the DRE. For additional information regarding the Real Estate Salesperson license, refer to http://www.dre.ca.gov. The license is required of individuals who conduct licensed real estate activities as described by Real Estate Law in California. Licensed Real Estate Salespersons work under the supervision of a licensed broker. Real Estate Salespersons are generally employed in real estate offices serving the general public; however, some agents secure employment with commercial enterprises operating in the real estate industry (e.g., developers, government agencies, escrow companies, loan officer, mortgage banker, property manager). Students are encouraged to continue their real estate training by completing the requirements for the Real Estate Broker Certificate of Achievement and the Real Estate A.S. degree or Certificate of Achievement as well. To earn a Certificate of Achievement, students must complete each of the required courses with a "C" grade or higher.
