About Law

Delta College’s Law program is the perfect place to work toward a career as a paralegal, legal assistant, or lawyer. You’ll build communication skills, gain understanding of the legal field, and will be prepared for further study in a variety of majors. 

Delta College is also part of the Community College Pathway to Law School initiative (Cal-LAW)). Those who participate in Cal-LAW will be given special admissions consideration when they apply to a partnering law school in California.

Law, Public Policy, and Society, AA-T

The Associate in Arts for Transfer degree in Law, Public Policy, and Society has been identified as good preparation for law school upon completion of a bachelor's degree. The interdisciplinary coursework emphasizes the development of communication skills, introduces students to the legal field, and prepares students for further study in a variety of majors. Students who opt to pursue this course of study are encouraged to engage in further exploration of one or more specific majors as they select electives for degree completion. Courses required for the degree align with the Pre-Law Studies certificate offered by the College and the Pathway to Law program sponsored by the State Bar of California. Students are encouraged to see a counselor for assistance in developing an educational plan.

Other Programs - Social Justice Studies

The Social Justice Studies AA-T is an interdisciplinary degree that empowers students to be critical analysts of social phenomena, culturally competent communicators, and effective agents for change in law and society. Courses engage students in learning about concepts and values of civil rights and liberties, community, cooperation and collaboration, culture, diversity, ethics, equity, freedom, heterodoxy, human rights, inclusivity, justice, and solidarity, as well as about related legal, political and social movements, protests and resistance, socio-legal studies, law and social change, and conflict analysis and transformation for social justice, equity, and liberation.
