Health Career Trainings

This total 18-hour class is designed for healthcare professionals as an introduction to basic ECG/EKG interpretation. The student will be introduced to functional anatomy and electrophysiology principals/concepts. Fundamental ECG interpretation of normal and abnormal rhythms/dysrhythmias is covered according to American Heart Association (AHA), Heart Rhythm Society, and American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) definitions and guidelines. Practice ECG interpretative sessions and quizzes will be utilized throughout the course to reinforce and evaluate the student's comprehension of material.

This program prepares students to be professional Medical Assistants dedicated to patient care management. Graduates are equipped to assist physicians with examinations and treatments, take medical histories, perform diagnostic tests, perform basic EKG, sterilize instruments, assist with minor surgeries, and administer medications. The program goal is to prepare students for an entry-level Medical Assistant in a clinic or hospital setting. Students who successfully complete the Program with an 80% in instruction and 80% in externship will be eligible to take their state examination, offered by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA).

A Pharmacy Technicians assist in various activities of compounding, distributing and dispensing medications, maintaining client records and using skills, knowledge, and training to perform a wide variety of pharmacy related tasks. Upon successful program completion, student will be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certifying Board (PTCB) exam, register as Pharmacy Technician through the Board of Pharmacy of the State of California and work as a competent entry-level assistant under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist.

This program is designed to train students to draw blood samples in a clinical laboratory or public health setting. Over the course of the program, students will gain exposure to on-the-job duties that include drawing blood samples from patients, producing quality laboratory results, gaining the trust and confidence of patients. The program will prepare students to take the exam for Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and State license. Externships will be arranged by the Delta College Phlebotomy Program Coordinator.
