About Biology

Biology courses will expose you to the scientific origins of life, and how organisms function, grow, and reproduce.

Courses can help fulfill general education requirements or prepare STEM majors for transfer with a three-semester core biology sequences of courses. Biology 1 is designed to equip you with the skills needed to become a research scientist. If you intend to apply to medical, veterinary, or dental schools you are required to take this course as well. During the remaining sequence, you will study biochemistry, cellular biology, signal transduction, cell cycle regulation, DNA replication, transcription, and translation, along with molecular biology techniques. In addition, you will study how population genetics results in evolution.

Selected biology course also serve as prerequisites for the nursing, radiology technician, and  psychiatric technician programs.
