Fluid Power is concerned with the use of pressurized fluid in a confined system to accomplish work using liquid in a hydraulic system and air in a pneumatic system. Fluid power is widely used in agricultural machines, aircrafts, and automobiles.
Nearly 75% of the manufacturing plants in the United States rely on fluid power production systems, and nearly 60% of the items manufactured for industry have fluid power incorporated in their designs. The industry has annual sales of over 3 billion dollars.
Career opportunities are promising. Workers function at four levels:
1) Mechanics and maintenance personnel
2) Fluid power technicians
3) Fluid power engineers
