General Information Associate Degree applications are submitted at the beginning of the term during which the student expects to complete the degree requirements. The deadlines for each term are as follows:
The applications are available by clicking on the appropriate link above labeled either "Associate in Arts Applications and Checklists" or "Associate in Sciences Applications and Checklists". The Associate Degree(s) CANNOT be posted to the student's record until after the end of the term during which it was earned. This usually occurs during the second or third week following the end of that term. It could take longer if the student took a class that ends beyond the end of the term, as all grades must be posted. It could also be delayed if the student has an "Incomplete" to clear or has submitted a grade change request. The diplomas are mailed approximately two months after the end of a term. The approximately availability dates are as follows:
Students who have previously earned a degree or certificate can order a reprint of that document. There is $10.00 processing fee for each reprint request. ALL holds must be cleared before the reprint can be released. Reprints take up to three weeks and are mailed to the student. To order a reprint of a degree or certificate, please download the Reprint Request Form, complete, enclose payment, and return to:
Associate in Arts Degree A minimum of eighteen (18) semester units taken in a specific discipline as identified under "Areas of Concentration" in the college catalog and schedule of classes; An approved program of study within an area of concentration with 9 to 15 units of course work in the specific discipline and 3 to 9 units of course work in a related discipline within the same area of concentration for a total of not less than 18 units; OR Lower-division requirements for an accredited baccalaureate institution of their choice; OR A discipline specific major which will require an approved program of study with a minimum of 18 units of course work in the specific discipline as specified in the college catalog. *In discipline areas where there is a unit restriction, the student MUST use the 18 unit pattern. These disciplines cannot be used as a second discipline area.
Minimum of twenty-four (24) semester units of general education courses as prescribed in the San Joaquin Delta College Associate Degree General Education pattern. OR California State University lower division General Education pattern. OR Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC)-CSU version pattern.
Completion of not less than sixty (60) associate degree applicable semester units of course work with not less than a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
A minimum competency must be demonstrated by a grade of "C" or higher in courses offered in satisfaction of written communication, oral communication, and quantitative reasoning.
Of the minimum required sixty (60) semester units, the student must complete at San Joaquin Delta College:

Students must follow program requirements listed under each Associate in Science Degree Major (including any general education courses specified).
Minimum of twenty-four (24) semester units of general education courses as prescribed in the San Joaquin Delta College Associate Degree General Education pattern. OR California State University lower division General Education pattern OR Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC)-CSU version pattern.
A minimum of sixty (60) semester units of course work with a 2.00 "C" average or higher.

Units earned through Credit by Examination do not apply as residency units. Applications for Associate in Sciences Degrees Course Substitutions are intended to meet emergency situations. Substitutions are not usually granted more than one semester in advance. Course Substitutions are applicable in situations where the student believes he/she has taken an equivalent course or when a required course is unavailable and an equivalent needs to be recommended. The Division Chairperson MUST approve all AS Degree substitutions. |
