Apply for Benefits

If you are a veteran, dependent of a veteran, service member, or a combination of some of the preceding; you may be eligible to apply for VA Education Benefits, Tuition Assistance, or the California Dependents of Veterans College Fee Waiver Program

Steps to Apply for VA Benefits - Ch. 30, 33, 35, or 1606

 

  1. Go to http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/

  2. Click on Apply For Benefits

  3. Click on Launch VONAPP and Apply For Benefits

    It is advisable to read the instructions for filling out the application, and by clicking on Filling out a VA Form 22-1990, Application For Education Benefits, you can also see a list of any other documentation you may need to submit to the VA. 

    Note: Please complete VA Form 22-5490 for Dependents.

  4. Complete and submit! In approximately 6-8 weeks, you should receive a Certificate of Eligibility.

  5. Submit your certificate along with a copy of your DD214 & military transcripts to the Veterans Resource Center along with the following required forms:

After completing the above steps, you should be able to receive your benefits. We will let you know if you need to do anything else. Veterans or dependents of a veteran that have questions pertaining to their education benefits, eligibility, and payment must call Muskogee. Muskogee's number is 1-888-442-4551. 

Steps to Apply for your VA Benefits – Ch. 31

1. Go to https://www.va.gov/careers-employment/vocational-rehabilitation/how-to-a...
2. Click on Apply for VR&E benefits
3. Review program eligibility by answering questions or…
4. Click on Apply for Veteran Readiness and Employment with VA Form 28-1900
5. Click on Sign in to start your application

  • It is advisable to read the instructions for filling out the application.

6. Complete and submit! The VA processes applications in the order they receive them. They may contact you if we have questions or need more information. If you’re eligible for Veteran Readiness and Employment benefits, the VA will schedule a meeting for you with a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC). The counselor will work with you to create a personalized rehabilitation plan that outlines what VR&E services you can get.
7. Submit a copy of your DD214 & military transcripts to the Veterans Resource Center along with the following required forms:

  • Student Responsibility Contract
  • Intake Form
  • VA Course Certification Form

8. In addition, if you attended other colleges/universities, please request official transcripts, and bring (unopened) to our Veterans Resource Center or submit to Admissions & Records with:

  • Transcript Evaluation Form

After completing the above steps, you should be able to receive your benefits. We will let you know if you need to do anything else.

Steps to Apply for your Tuition Assistance Program
  1. Contact the VRC to schedule an appointment with your Delta college counselor and obtain a veteran student education plan (SEP).

  2. Submit the educational plan to your Unit’s Advisor (Note: You will need to specify to your Unit Advisor what your educational goals are and what classes you will be taking each semester).

  3. Log in to your unit’s portal and print out a TA Agreement.

  4. Submit the TA Agreement directly to the VRC at vrc@deltacollege.edu

  5. Submit the following required form to the Veteran Resource Center:  Intake Form

  6. ubmit your certificate along with a copy of your DD214/military orders & military transcripts to the Veteran Resource Center at vrc@deltacollege.edu

  7. In addition, if you attended other colleges/universities, please request official transcripts, and bring to our Veterans Resource Center or submit to Admissions & Records with:

Steps to Apply for your California Dependents of Veterans College Fee Waiver Program
  1. Application forms may be obtained at the Veterans Services Office, by contacting your local county veterans' services officer, or online here: https://www.calvet.ca.gov/VetServices/pages/college-fee-waiver.aspx .  

  1. After completing the application, you can submit or fax the application to the information listed below.

Please note, if you are not residing within San Joaquin County, you may check with your local County VA office to get this application processed.

After completing the above steps, you should be able to receive your benefits. We will let you know if you need to do anything else. Veterans who are children or a spouse of a service-connected veteran rated at 0% or higher may also be eligible for this benefit. 

Steps to Apply for your VA Benefits – VRRAP

1. Go to https://www.va.gov/education/other-va-education-benefits/veteran-rapid-r...
2. Review program eligibility

  • NOTE: Per AP 4115, students taking online courses must be California residents.
  • NOTE: The following programs at Delta College are NOT approved for VRRAP: General Education, AS - Architectural Drafting, Cert - Bookkeeping, Cert - Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician Apprent, AS - Caterpillar Dealer Service Technician Apprent, & AS - Electrical Technology Apprent.

3. Click on Apply for VRRAP education benefits
4. Click on Sign in or create an account

  • It is advisable to read the instructions for filling out the application.

5. Complete and submit! In approximately 30 days, you should receive a Certificate of Eligibility.
6. Submit your certificate along with a copy of your DD214 & military transcripts to the Veterans Resource Center along with the following required forms:

  • Student Responsibility Contract
  • Intake Form

7. In addition, if you attended other colleges/universities, please request official transcripts, and bring (unopened) to our Veterans Resource Center or submit to Admissions & Records with:

  • Transcript Evaluation Form
