Rita is a native of Chicago, Illinois. She earned her Batchelor’s Degree in Psychology at University of San Francisco and then completed a Master’s Degree and Elementary Teaching Credential at UOP. She first came to Delta as an adjunct instructor in Basic Skills and later joined the Early Childhood Department and has taught a variety of classes. She has also been a preschool teacher and Director of a private, non-profit preschool providing her with a wide depth of experience in the field.

She believes that the field of child development is constantly changing and offers opportunities for students to prepare for a wide variety of career options and loves to see ECE teachers enjoy many stages of growth and professional challenge throughout their lifetime.

Outside of the classroom, hobbies include gardening, cooking, photography. She and her husband have three adult daughters and five busy grandchildren.
