Extended Academy

9 Month POST Program

Current Extended Module POST certified Basic Peace Officer Academy class is in session:

March 20, 2016 – November 21, 2016

Classes held:

Saturdays and Sundays 7:00am to 4:00pm,

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

The extended format is in session for approximately nine months, once yearly.

Our next extended Academy orientation class is due to start:

AJ 094 Orientation 01/07/2017

AJ 095A Basic Police Academy Module III 02/18/2017

Independent students who meet the (Minimum Entrance Requirements) to qualify for participation in the POST Academy Program must complete and pass the multiple choice (POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery examination) scored by POST with a total T-Score of 42.0 higher.

Step 1: 


Schedule to take the POST ENTRY-LEVEL LAW ENFORCEMENT TEST BATTERY EXAMINATION (PELLETb) at any facility that is offering the examination.

The PELLETb test is offered several times a year through San Joaquin Delta College's ASSESSMENT CENTER. You must pre-register online. The next testing is 10/27/16 and the registration is due to open up in September, 2016.

You can take the PELLETb exam at any facility that offers the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery Examination.  Please refer to the Post Website for a listing of departments/agencies: BASIC TRAINING ACADEMIES. PLEASE DO NOT CALL OUR OFFICE ASKING WHERE TO TAKE THE TEST. YOU MUST CONTACT THE FACILITIES DIRECTLY TO OBTAIN THEIR TESTING TIMES AND DATES. The most common place students go to take this test is: SOUTH BAY REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY- SAN JOSE.

Once you have a passing total T-score letter of 42.0 or higher, email a copy of your T-Score notification to If you submitted a qualifying T-score from another agency, you will receive an email notice with registration information for the next AJ 094 orientation class.


Step 2


Successful applicants who pass the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery with a total T-Score of 42.0 or better must apply to San Joaquin Delta College as a student by completing the online application for Admission to the College or be a current student in good standing with the college.

Step 3:  


All applicants must register in the prerequisite course, AJ 094 Peace Officer Academy Orientation, and successfully pass AJ 094 before being accepted to attend the Basic Peace Officer Academy. Information for registering into AJ 094 is provided by email to the applicants that have successfully passed the PELLETb exam with a score of 42.0 or higher and provided the Academy office a copy of your test results.

Step 4:

INDEPENDENT STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE:  If we have more than 60 eligible applicants for the Basic Peace Officer Academy, placement into the Academy will be offered to applicants based on the following (Selection Procedures).


The cost of an independent cadet attending the POST Academy is approximately $5,000.00.  This includes all materials and fees that are distributed throughout the program.ACADEMY EXPENSE LIST

Law Enforcement agencies wishing to sponsor employees into the program should contact the Academy to reserve seats in the next available course.  209-954-5258 or Agencies will be notified of registration requirements when they reserve seats. Agencies that provide duty gear, ballistic vests and ammunition can expect to pay approximately $3,500.00 per cadet to cover all three modules of the program.
