The Department of Music is housed in Holt Center along with the Fine Arts, Social Science, and Technical Arts Division offices, and the Admission, Records & Registration office. The department utilizes the Music Recital/Choral Rehearsal Hall, Instrumental Rehearsal Hall, Music Lab/Library, Piano Lab, Electronic Music Studio, Ensemble Rooms and 16 Individual Practice Rooms.
Piano Lab, Holt 109
The department is equipped with the latest, most advanced instruments and equipment available. The piano lab contains twenty digital piano work stations and is used for all of the class piano courses. The Electronic Music Studio contains synthesizers of all types as well as having 8-track audio and video recording and mixing capabilities. The Music Lab/Library, also recently remodeled, maintains the department's collection of audio and video recordings and musical scores as well as computer software. In addition, the Music Lab/Library has listening stations as well as sixteen computers which are available for student use.
MIDI and Vivace workstation
In addition to the Holt Center facilities, many musical performances are presented in the 400 seat Tillie Lewis Theater and the 1450 seat Warren Atherton Auditorium. Atherton Auditorium, one of the finest theater facilities in California maintains an independent staff of technical personnel who coordinate the productions presented on its stage. It has hosted some of the finest talent in the world today and serves as a cultural center for the entire San Joaquin Valley. The Delta College Choirs, Jazz Bands, and Symphonic Band perform regularly in Atherton Auditorium which is acoustically "tunable", and provides an outstanding forum for musical presentations.
