Automotive Master Technician

Applied Science & Technology Division
Upon successful completion of the Auto Master Technician Certificate, the student demonstrates skills necessary to work as a fully trained automotive technician in all eight "ASE" areas: engine repair, automatic transmissions/transaxles, manual drive trains/axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical/electronics, engine performance, air conditioning advanced engine performance, and the Clean Air Car Course for emission training. The student demonstrates skills, knowledge, and training for career opportunities at dealerships, independent repair shops, test only stations, and public agencies such as: Automotive Technician, Service Advisor, Service Manger, Engine Repair Technician, Automotive Transmission Technician, Transmission Technician, Alignment/Suspension Specialist, Brake Specialist, electrical Technician, Engine Performance Driveability Technician, Auto Air Conditioning and Heating Technician, Smog Check Test and Repair Technician, Tune Up Technician or Installer.

The program is certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) in association with the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). This program is also certified by the California Department of Consumer Affairs/Bureau of Automotive Repair (DCA/BAR) to deliver the Basic and Advanced Clean Air Car course. The student may also receive certification required for air conditioning repair and training for the California Headlamp Adjusters license.
