Our Programs

About the Division

Our mission is to provide all students with a strong liberal arts program, which gives students the opportunity to transform into adult citizens, both domestically and globally. The three aspects of adult citizenship that our division focuses on are:

  • Knowledge: Civic education begins with fundamental knowledge of people and their cultures, the US Constitution, American history, current events, persistent public problems, and the capacity to analyze them.
  • Values: Value judgments and the ability to evaluate fairness, social justice, freedom, equality, mutual rights and responsibilities in various contexts.
  • Action: Using one's knowledge and values to take action in ones community, government, military, local and/or state politics.
