STOCKTON -- The diverse array of programs offered at Delta College will be on full display during a campuswide open house on Oct. 27, Delta's most extensive open house in recent memory.

Prospective students can visit classrooms, labs and shops, and speak directly with faculty about programs and career options.

The open house is being held in the fall as many high school students make decisions about where they will attend college. By choosing Delta College, they can save thousands of dollars in tuition before transferring to a university, or they can earn a degree or certificate that could double or even triple their income right out of Delta.

The open house is free and all are invited.

“It’s really a great opportunity to see the Delta College campus and all that is offered here,” said Le Phan, Delta’s student and community outreach manager. “Prospective students will be able to visit with faculty from about 25 programs. There is no other time you can do all of that in one day."

“Our goal is for guests to gain awareness about our programs, support services, and technical skill attainment," said Michelle Castanon, program manager at Delta’s CTE Workforce Development Center. "This day is designed to highlight all of the opportunities and the quality of Delta's educational programs in preparing individuals to be successful in the workforce.”

The open house begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 with a resource fair in the Plaza area. The fair will include student clubs, services like counseling and financial aid, representatives from academic programs, and more.

From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., programs within the divisions of Applied Science, Business, and Technology, Arts and Communications, and Languages, Library, and Learning Resources will open their doors. Highlights will include the machine and automotive shops, Delta’s innovative electron microscopy labs, music and arts facilities and more.

From 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., the event shifts to programs within the divisions of Agriculture, Science and Mathematics, Health Science, and Humanities, Social Science, Education, Kinesiology, and Athletics. Some science labs will be open, including labs for popular health science programs like nursing.

As an added bonus, the Delta College Bookstore will also be open during the entire event, offering special discounts and distributing coupons that students can use once they enroll.

Maps will be available to identify where each program is located.
