On February 3, 2009 President Rodriguez committed the college to reducing its carbon footprint by signing the American Colleges & University President's Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). On July 10, 2009 an implementation profile of the college was reported on the ACUPCC website as to how the college planned to reduce its carbon emissions and a copy of its 2007-08 carbon emission inventory.

On June 16, 2009 the Board of Trustees approved two new policies committing the College to more sustainable practices. The Sustainable Buildings Policy and Energy Star Purchasing Policy were created to help guide the college towards more sustainable practices related to building construction/reconstruction and appliances/products purchasing.

Earth Day Celebration
Celebrate Earth Day that is held on April 22. Delta's Innovation and Sustainability Committee hosts Earth Day every year on the Thursday closest to April 22.  Typically the event is from

350 Event
Participate in a 350 event that is held yearly in October.  The event is part of a worldwide awareness campaign of climate change and of photo depictions of the number 350.  350 parts per million is regarded by many as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. River Cleanup and River Walks
Students and community members are invited to participate in river cleanups organized by Friends of the Lower Calaveras River.  They are also invited to take part in educational river walks that are held monthly.
