REGN 19 and FCSC 9/PSYC 9 are additional prerequisites for LVN to RN applicants. Offers generic ADN program only. Offers NLN accredited ADN program.

Minimum Admissions Requirements to the Upper-Division Nursing Major:



Students seeking to enter the program must have:

1. completed 60 semester units of baccalaureate-level transferable college credit,

2. completed an AD or Diploma in nursing with a minimum of 30 semester units of nursing course work, earning a "C-" or better in each course,

3. completed at least half of the University's General Education breadth requirements, including oral and written communication, critical thinking (at least 9 semester units), and the requirement in mathematics* or quantitative reasoning (usually 3 semester units),

4. completed an acceptable college-level chemistry course, equivalent to CHEM 1000, of at least 3 semester units with a grade of "C-" or better,

5. a current license as a Registered Nurse in California,

6. file an application to the University, and

7. file an application to the Department of Nursing.

Merced: Applications accepted yearly January through March for fall admission. Application Handbook with dates, procedures, and forms is available in the campus bookstore or from web site merced.cc.ca.us. Current method of selection includes point system based on work experience, residence in service area and prior application status. 66% of selection based on highest points, 33% selected randomly from the remaining pool. Additional requirements: HIST 17A, 17B or POSC 1; FCSC 9/PSYC9 (prior to or concurrent with REGN 11); 2 units of PHED; humanities - Area C; reading competency met through all courses completed with "C" or better; Math A or higher level course for math competency. Minimum GPA of 2.5 required in prerequisite science courses.

Modesto: Applications to the program are accepted every semester. High school graduate or equivalent: Reading assessment with minimum score of 12 (50%) within 5 years of application to program; Math assessment with recommendation for MATH 90 within completion of MATH 70 with C or higher. Completion of ANAT 125 or (AP 132 if completed by Spr 96); MICRO 101 or (MICRO 110 if completed by Spr 96); PHYSIO 101 (within 5 years of application), Modesto requires a Physiology course which is not combined with any other subject. A point system is used to establish priority for admission. Some admission slots are determined by lottery. Variable points are assigned depending on the grades earned in the following courses completed at the time of application: anatomy, physiology, microbiology, ENGL 101; PSYCH 101; ANTHR 102, or SOCIO 101, 125, 150, 154 or 156; SPCOM 100 or 102. FDNTR 219 recommended for success. GPA of 2.75 required in science prerequisites: ANAT 125; PHYSO 101; MICRO 101. GPA of 2.67 or higher in all courses included in point system with minimum grade of C in all courses. Suggest completion of graduation requirements. Accepted applicants must submit proof of: 1) a physical completed by a physician within 3 months of start of program and required immunizations. 2) CPR certification issued within 6 months prior to start of program. A negative PPD skin test or negative chest x-ray with positive PPD.



San Joaquin Delta: Applications to the ADN program accepted every semester. Filing dates for fall semester are February 1 - March 31; spring semester from September 1 - October 31. To qualify for selection, each applicant must have successfully completed: prerequisite courses with a grade of "C" or better in each course or show satisfactory "in-progress" status at the time of filing; satisfy the college assessment/placement test. Selection process is determined by random selection from the candidate pool. The courses for the general education for the Associate Degree in Nursing may be taken prior to admissions into the ADN program or concurrent with the nursing courses. These courses include ENGL 1A, PSYCH 1, SOCIO 1B, SPEECH 1A, any POLI SCI or HIST course which meets G.E. and Humanities - one of the following courses: ANTHRO 4 or FOREIGN LANG 1 (51 + 52) or PHILO 6.



Applications to the Vocational Nursing Certificate program are accepted for spring semester only. Filing dates are September 1 - October 31. In addition to completion of the college assessment/placement test, the criteria for application include: 17 years of age; high school graduate or possess either a GED or HS Proficiency Certificate; with a minimal cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better on prerequisites in addition to completing each course with a grade of "C" or better. The selection process is by lottery. The certificate program is 46 weeks in length. The student enters in the spring and completes the program in fall semester of the same calendar year.
