HOLIDAYS


10.1 Scheduled Holidays: The District agrees to provide all employees in the Bargaining Unit with the following paid holidays during the term of this agreement.

10.1.1 New Year's Day

10.1.2 Lincoln Day

10.1.3 Washington Day - Third Monday in February

10.1.4 Spring Vacation Day - Friday of Spring Recess Week

10.1.5 Memorial Day - Last Monday in May

10.1.6 Independence Day

10.1.7 Labor Day - First Monday in September

10.1.8 Veterans Day

10.1.9 Thanksgiving Day and the following day - Thursday proclaimed by the President (generally the fourth Thursday in November)

10.1.10 Floating Holiday

10.1.11 Christmas Eve

10.1.12 Christmas Day

10.1.13 Day after Christmas

10.1.14 Martin Luther King's Birthday

10.1.15 Cesar Chavez Birthday


10.2 Additional Holidays: Every day declared by the Governing Board under Education Code, Sections 79021 or 79022, as a holiday shall be paid holiday for all employees in the Bargaining Unit.

10.3 Holidays on Normal Workdays: If an employee is required to work a scheduled holiday the employee shall be compensated for all hours worked at the rate of one and one-half times the employee's regular rate of pay, or compensatory time off at the same rate at the option of the District. This shall be in addition to, and not in lieu of, payment for the holiday as provided in Section 10.1.

If a holiday falls on an employee's day off, then the employee shall receive a day off at a mutually agreeable time as close to the holiday as possible.

10.4 Holiday Eligibility: Except as otherwise provided in this Article an employee must be in paid status on the working day immediately preceding or succeeding the holiday to be paid for the holiday.
