Psychology 1 uses the Blackboard system instead of ETUDES or eCollege used by many other Delta courses. More information on getting around inside Blackboard is presented in the Navigating Blackboard link, back on Mr. Payne's web site. Before logging in, please remember the following:
Logging into the real course involves three pages or screens. Here are instructions on how. Instructions for continuing after logging in follow. Read this entire tutorial while scrolling down this page. The only log in address is near the bottom of this page. At least print this page out for future reference. It is nice to follow these directions alongside your computer when you actually log in.
Page 1. The Gateway Page
When you click the address at the bottom of this page, you will see the Blackboard logo in the upper left side of the page. Every time you enter the class, you start here. Be sure to "Bookmark," it on Netscape or "Add Page to Favorites," on Internet Explorer. Place it on your browser's Toolbar if you know how.
Never, ever click on Course Catalogue or Create Account. There is only one course and it probably won't show in the catalogue. Your account is already set up inside blackboard. All you have to do is log in on the next page . Clicking on "Login" takes you to page 2 but for this tutorial, just scroll this down.

Clicking on "Login" takes you to page 2 but for this tutorial, just scroll down.
Page 2. The Login Page.
Login on the right side of this page only. The username and password shown here are not real. See below to figure out your own. Do nothing on the left side of the page.

The right side of this page is where you actually log into the course with your username and password. Your username is made up of your ...
For example, if you registered in section 84864 and your name is Pat Smith, your Username is 84864smip. This is opposite the way Delta assigns email addresses. Notice the letters are all lower case without spaces. Capitals will not work. Please write down your own personal Username now and double check it's form. This is where many students make a mistake. Also notice this isn't the Webtutor Access Code that comes wrapped with the text. Use that later, once you are inside the course.
Your password is made up of your ...
A simple mistake will prevent you from entering the class. Again this isn't the Webtutor Access Code that comes wrapped with the text. Use that later, once you are inside the course.
In the real Log In page, enter your username and password, then click on Login. For this tutorial, just scroll down.
Page 3. The Welcome Page
The next page says "Welcome" with your name. (See below) When in the real course, click under My Courses on the line that starts with a book icon. If you happen to be taking other Blackboard courses, they will not show here. Only ours shows.

This puts you inside the class but there is more to do. Conitinue scrolling down for these instructions.
Page 4. The Announcements Page
Once you really log in, the Announcements page appears with a picture of our textbook. Scroll down and see the Announcement about our schedule. (It doesn't work in this tutorial and of course, the semester will be updated.) Be sure to click and check it out when you log in for real. The left side menu disappears when viewing the Schedule because you jump to a different computer. After looking at the schedule for real, click your browser's Back button to get back to the Announcement. page. We do this kind of jumping a lot in this class.
Notice the menu items Meet Your Instructor and Course Information. Once you actually log into the course, read these right away. You will click in one or two pages deep. You will be quizzed on the Course Information material at the end of the first week.

The code is CaSe SeNsItiVe, so be sure to type it in exactly as seen in your folder.
Your code will look something like this: TS10075RMDSP. (This is not an actual code.) Type it exactly in the window.

If you lose your code, give it to someone else, or you purchased your book and it did not contain a code, you MUST buy a new code to access the course. Your code will only work one time. Once you are granted access, your code is permanently connected to your username and password. It won't work for anyone else. Next time you log in, you will only need your username and password (as described above).
If you have Micomedia Flash Player on your computer, you can click here to see a short movie about logging in. Flash demonstration. Flash is not used in this class but if you want to download the free player, click here and scroll the screen down: Download Flash.
