Buy the textbooks and the Webtutor Access Key. The simplest way is either visit Delta’s Bookstore or call (209) 954-5086. Both the two books and Access Code are required. Have them in hand before the semester starts. The software is also required but it is free. Scroll this page down for more information in the Dos and Don'ts boxes below. Here is what you need.

Plotnik, Rod, Introduction To Psychology, 8th edition, Loose-leaf Version, 2007, CENGAGE Learning (a division of Thomson), Publisher. ISBN: 9780495416029. Known as the "Online version" at Delta's Bookstore. The required Access Code is bundled with the text.

Don't take the plastic wrap off the book until you flip it over and make sure the Webtutor card (next picture down) is under the plastic. If it isn't there, you got the wrong version or a used version of the book. You still need the Access Code discussed below. Ask for help at the Bookstore.

Older editions may not be used. See Ifs, Cans And Cannots .... far down this page and scroll to the bottom of the box.

Webtutor. This is a 4 X 8" folder containing your unique, 12-digit, title-specific, Access Code. It is wrapped under the plastic surrounding the text book. You must have this code to enter the course.

A Code works only one time for one person for one semester. When a student enters the course for the first time the code is permanently locked to that student's account and no longer used or usable. Sharing is not possible.

The Access Code and a new Plotnik text are packaged together at a discount price only at Delta's Bookstore.

If you have a used 8th edition, you must purchase the Code from the Publisher. See Ifs, Cans And Cannots .... far down this page.

Be sure to get the "Online" version with the light brown cover, not the one for on-campus classes. The two main sections include course information, pages 1 - 14 and lecture outlines. You must complete the outlines while viewing PowerPoint lectures. About half of Exam questions come from your notes in the Activities Book.

**Do's and Don'ts For Plotnik's Text and Webtutor Code**

Buy and have your books in hand before the semester starts.	Don't wait later than a week into the semester to have books in hand. The Webtutor Access Code is required to get into the course.
Buy Plotnik from Delta's Bookstore. It is the cheapest and easiest for a new book because the Webtutor Access Code is wrapped with book at about a $17 discount.	Don't buy a new book from an online book company. They may have the text for less but can not sell the Webtutor Access Code. If you buy from them, you must also buy the Webtutor Access Code direct from the publisher. Cost $28 plus 5 - 10 days shipping. See Ifs, Cans And Cannots .... far down this page.
Check the Plotnik book before opening the plastic wrap. Be sure the card wrapped with the book says Webtutor.	Don't open the plastic wrap if the Plotnik book has a card for InfoTrac and CDs for study aids. Take the book back, unopened. Online students get these services free as part of Webtutor.
When going to Delta's Bookstore, tell the clerk you are an Online Psychology 1 student in Mr. Payne's class and need the Online version of Plotnik. Or say you want a used Plotnik without Webtutor, vMentor or InfoTrac if available. Then you must buy the Webtutor Access Code direct from the publisher. Cost $25. Plan well ahead. See Ifs, Cans And Cannots below.	Don't send a friend or relative to the Delta's Bookstore without a printout of this page marked clearly with what you need. Just taking your Deltagram or class schedule will not work because they don't say "Online". Delta will not refund books purchased in error. Explain what you see to the left to your friend or relative.
The new loose-leaf version of the book is cheaper than a new hardcover or paperback, but is not available used and can not be sold back to the Bookstore.	Don't expect to sell back the loose-leaf version at book buyback time. Your savings is at the time of purchase.

**Do's and Don'ts For Payne's Activities Book**

Get the "Online" version of the Activities Book by Mr. Payne. It has a light brown cover and says "For Online ..." on the front cover.	Don't get the one for on-campus classes, with a blue cover.
Buy your own, new, personal copy of the Activities Book. Used ones are not sold in any bookstore or online company. They are only at Delta.	Don't get a used one from a friend or relative. I make changes from semester to semester and you don't mentally own the notes. See Ifs, Cans And Cannots .... below and scroll down the box.
Ask for all material at the Bookstore. It is not on the open shelves.	Don't expect to sell back the Activities Book. The Bookstore won't buy used ones.

**Ifs, Cans And Cannots, Whys And Why Nots**
You may get a used 8th edition of Plotnik from a friend, the Bookstore, or from an online book company. But, used Webtutor Access Codes will not work. A Code works only one time for one person for one semester. Sharing is not possible. If you get a used 8th edition of Plotnik, you must buy the code direct from the publisher. Total Cost: about $28 and from 5 - 9 days to arrive at your house. Payable only by credit or debit/ATM card. Checks not accepted. To buy the Access Code alone: Call Cengage Publishing (formerly known as Thomson) Customer Service: 1-800-842-3636. I think the ISBN for Standalone Access (purchased seperately) is 0495911658. Confirm with them that it is Webtutor on the Cengage Learning Management System (CLMS) for Plotnik's Introduction to Psychology, 8th ed. Tell them the Course key number (not the same as the Access Code you buy) is 9780495911623-00016 and it starts in January. Please let me know if this doesn't work. We won't be using Blackboard this Spring. The Publisher is changing to a modified version of Angel so the course will have the same content, but will look different. - Mr. Payne
If you don't buy in person at Delta's Bookstore, then order far enough ahead to allow for shipping. "My books (or Code) haven't arrived," is not an excuse for missing course deadlines.
Buy your own, new, Activities Book. Used Activities Books have someone else's notes inside. That person mentally owns the notes. That person can remember writing,"XYZ," about this or that. You can't. The notes are just as strange to you as the textbook's pages. Get the best learning by entering your own notes in a new book. You will mentally own them and should remember them better at exam time. Activities Books are not expensive.
You may share a Plotnik book with someone close to you, but both of you must buy individual Webtutor Access Codes from the Publisher. Sharing one code will not work. You must also buy individual Activities Books.
If you buy Plotnik with a card for InfoTrac and CDs for study aids, STOP! Don't take the plastic wrap off. Return it unopened. You got the wrong book and paid more than for the book alone. And you still must buy the Webtutor Access Code from the Publisher.
Changes in the 8th edition from the 7th mean you can not use an older edition.

Download the free PowerPoint Viewer. If you don't already have a newer version of PowerPoint on your computer.	Don't forget to check. It may already be on your computer, usually as part of the Microsoft Office group.
Click here For Windows computers such as Dell, HP, IBM, or Gateway, among others.	Don't pay for this. The Viewer is free but do it as soon as possible.
