Rosaline Fung

Born and raised in bilingual Hong Kong, Rosaline Lee Fung is extremely well prepared from personal experience to assist students in language acquisition and language improvement. While growing up in Hong Kong, she was a student of English as a second language from elementary through high school, so she intimately understands the problems of second-language students.

In the United States she continued her English education at Briar Cliff College and later at Idaho State University as an International Peace Scholar. After completing her M.A. as an International Peace Scholar in 1968, Rosaline Fung launched a widely varied teaching career.  Drawing from her multi-lingual background, she published a series of eight textbooks on writing entitled Patterns for Success, which are used in schools all over the world, including the US, Canada, and China. In the Patterns for Success series Rosaline Fung combines what she has learned in her multi-lingual personal life and her many years of successful teaching experience to take the mystery - and the misery - out of writing English sentences, paragraphs, and essays.

In 1984 Rosaline Fung joined San Joaquin Delta College, where she has taught college English, basic English, and English as a second language. She has been a leader and innovator in curriculum development, especially in basic language acquisition. She was instrumental in developing materials for the innovative Delta College Writing Lab, which serves students with all types of problems in composition. She co-authored the Writing Lab Manual currently in use. She helped to design a training program for and taught the classes of the Chinese visiting teachers at Delta College for three semesters. Aside from teaching English and ESL and coordinating special programs for visiting educators from China at SJDC, she currently serves on the International Educational Advisory Council of  U-CANDU Learning Centers (Canada).  Recent recognition includes commendations in the 27th edition (1999) of Who's Who in the West and in the 17th edition (2000) of Who's Who in the World.
