This lecture will introduce viruses. Some taxonomists have already developed a new kingdom to include these organisms. The problem is that virus are essentially inert particles unless they come into contact with the correct host. That means that they do not fit into Schleiden & Schwann's concept of the cell theory. Do doubt we will have to the cell theory in the future to account for viruses.
