So this is my page here at San Joaquin Delta College. It's not much, but it's mine. On this page you'll find information on who I am and what I do, some favorite hobbies of mine, and some favorite links of mine, including a link to my other web page. So scroll on down and take a look and if you have any questions or just want to drop me a line, my email is at the bottom.

As you can see by the title up above, my name is Dave. My full name is David E. Origer. Don't ask me what the "E" stands for, I won't tell you. So what do I do here at Delta College? Well, I'm one of five full-time Network Administrators. O.K. you know what my title is, but what is it I do? I administrate the network. You probably figured that one out, but more specifically I manage the firewall, network switches, email, and several servers. Most of the network equipment here at Delta is of the Cisco variety. Servers range from Windows, to Linux, to Sun. I prefer Windows and I'm responsible for building and migrating our networks from NT4 to Active Directory. I'm a Windows guy through and through. I've used every version of the OS and prefer it to all others. I know some out there will say this OS or that OS is better, but since the mass majority out there runs Windows and I've been using it for more the 20 years, let's just say you can have your OS, I'll stick with mine.

So what do I like to do on my off time? My major hobby in computer gaming, specifically any game that supports network gaming. Right now my favorites are Dungeon Siege and Warcraft III. My friends come over once or twice a month for LAN party's. It's quite a blast. Another hobby of mine is homebrew beer. I also surf a lot of weather pages. I keep track of the rain during the winter and spring, and the tropical storms and hurricanes during the summer. If you check out links below you'll see several of them that relate to these hobbies.

Weather Links:

Stockton,CA forcast by Intellicast - This page points to all types of weather information for Stockton.  Sacramento used to be the only one available that was close by, but now we have our own.

WeatherNet Tropical Weather - This page is where I go to check out the latest in hurricanes around the country.

KXTV10 Doppler - This is a local news station. The have one of the best up to date doppler radar links. Most places update about every 15-20 minutes. This one updates every 3 minutes. Gives you a chance to watch the storm progress real time. However this link only updates when it rains, otherwise the picture will stay the same.

SpaceWeather - This site's cool. Shows a lot about what's going on with the sun. Sunspots, coronal mass ejections, magnetic storms, and other things. Also talks about meteorite hits and comets. Lots of good pictures.
