Communications
1.Public Comments
Faculty members addressed the Board regarding budget cuts
affecting the Physical Education and Athletics Division, Foreign
Language department and Social Sciences Division. Faculty
addressed the following concerns: the loss of staff/faculty in the
athletics department; the reduction of course offerings which
limits student access to achieve academic goals; the number of
evening foreign language classes canceled; the combination of
level of classes in the foreign language department; the closure
of the Social Science Center; the number of offerings in the
Social Sciences department; and the need to upgrade the
computer facility. Faculty asked administration for support to
accommodate the needs of the students and offer core classes
for the foreign language department. Faculty also asked that
the Social Science Center remain open as many divisions use
the facility to accommodate the needs of students.
