The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the San Joaquin Delta Community College District
was held on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at 5:30 p.m. Closed Session and 6:00 p.m. Public Meeting, in the
Board Room, Administration 103, 5151 Pacific Ave., Stockton, California.

Called to Order
The Board meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Board
President Dan S. Parises.
Recess to Closed Session
Trustee Serna moved and seconded by Trustee Burke to
recess to Closed Session to discuss matters pursuant to
Government Code Section 54957 and 54957.6. Vote: 5/0;
motion carried. Trustee Simas arrived during Closed Session.
Reconvene Public Session
On voice vote, Board President Parises reconvened the
meeting at 6:10 p.m. with nothing to report.
Pledge of Allegiance
Trustee Serna led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Communications
1.Public Comments
Faculty members addressed the Board regarding the need to
keep programs/services available to students. Concerns
regarding how the budget cuts will affect different programs
and services provided by Delta staff were voiced. Concerns
were also raised regarding the ability of students to complete
their degree in spite of the number of classes reduced due to
the budget cuts. Faculty stressed the need to keep the
communication lines open, share mutual goals, and the ability
to continue to provide quality education.
Reports
1. Financial Aid - Ena Hull.
Director of Financial Aid Ena Hull provided an overview
of the financial aid program at Delta College. Ms. Hull
presented information regarding financial aid facts, state
and federal programs, disbursement of scholarships,
academic progress, the outlook on financial aid for the
2003-04 fiscal year, and other information pertaining to
financial aid.
