Peace Officer Academy
This nine-month course is certified by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) and satisfies the minimum training requirements for entry-level peace officers.

This course is designed for employed and/or aspiring peace officer candidates. The course includes fundamental principles, procedures and techniques of law enforcement, including: Criminal Law, Patrol Procedures, Cultural Diversity, Investigative Procedures, Report Writing, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Leadership, Ethics, Community Policing, Police Vehicle Operations, Traffic Enforcement, Accident Investigation, Handling Emotional Situations and First Aid/CPR. The course also includes a challenging physical requirement that will prepare student for police service.
Admissions Requirements
Requirements for entrance into the Academy are rigorous. The student applicant is required to pass a law enforcement entry level examination with a total T-Score of 42.0 or better. Upon acceptance into the program, the student is required to pass a medical examination from a physician at the applicant's expense. Upon request, the student must submit a set of fingerprints to the California Department of Justice for certification to attend the Basic Peace Officer Academy (13511.5 Penal Code).
