Request for Short-Term Employee
Hiring a "New" College Work-Study Reader
  1. Student MUST have a College Work-Study Referral Form before they may begin work.
  2. Supervising instructorMUST sign Referral Form. (Do not use a Short Term Request Form)
  3. DO NOT send Referral form to Financial Aid for the student.  The student must walk the referral for over to Financial Aide.  That office will then complete their portion of the paperwork.  Then the student MUST bring a copy of this completed referral form to you.
  4. New student workers will need to complete fingerprinting process prior to start date.
  5. Send a copy of the Referral form to Dr. Karen Millsop, Dean of Social Science, in Holt 240.
  6. College Work-Study students may not work more than 8 hours in a day.
  7. College Work-Study students may not work more than 20 hours a week.
Hiring a "Returning" College Work-Study Reader
  1. StudentMUSThave a "Revised Referral Form" before they may begin working.
  2. Student MUST sign "Revised Referral Form."
  3. Supervising Instructor MUST sign "Revised Referral Form."
  4. DO NOT send "Revised Referral Form" to Financial Aid.  The student must walk the referral for over to Financial Aide.  That office will then complete their portion of the paperwork.  Then the student MUST bring a copy of this completed referral form to you.
  5. Send "Revised Referral Form" to Dr. Karen Millsop, Dean of Social Science, in Holt 240.
  6. Once the projected Termination Date is reached (as listed on the referral form), the student must stop working.  Students who have not earned all their funds by that date will be mailed a new Revised Referral form that they must bring to their supervisor for signatures.
  7. It is responsibility of both the Supervising instructor and the Reader to keep track of all hours worked so that the Tutor/Reader does not earn more than his/her award amount.
  8. College Work-Study students may not work more than 8 hours in a day.
  9. College Work-Study students may not work more than 20 hours a week.
Hiring a "New" Grader / Reader
  1. Give each new Reader/Grader a (Payroll Packet.)  This includes a Delta College (Yellow) application for employment, a copy of the student Weekly Time Card for your area, a copy of student payroll schedule.

    a. New employees must bring completed employment application to the Human Resources office, Administration 202.

    b. New employees will be asked to present their Driver's license and Social Security Card to the Human Resources office when they turn in their completed application.

  2. Fill out the Short Term Request form for each new Tutor/Reader position requested.

    a. The Supervising Instructor or Supervising Lab Instructor must sign (Short Term Request.)
  3. Send (Short Term Request) to Dr. Karen Millsop, Dean of Social Science, in Holt 240.
  4. Do Not allow Reader to start work until Dr. Millsop verifies confirmation of employment.

  5. Readers must not work more than 8 hours a day!
  6. If the Reader is not a (Full Time) student, (9 units), they cannot work more than 150 days within a fiscal year.  (July 1 to June 30).  Please keep track of your Tutor/Readers total days worked to insure they do not work beyond this time frame.

  1. Fill out "Short Term Request" form.
  2. Supervising Instructor or Supervising Lab Instructor must sign "Short Term Request."
  3. Send "Short Term Request" to Dr. Karen Millsop, Dean of Social Science, in Holt 240.
