Courses in the Social Sciences offer students an opportunity to appreciate and understand our heritage, to develop a sense of responsibility for the needs of society, and to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to cope with political and economic realities. Social Science courses are fundamental for a complete education at the undergraduate level and are an integral part of the general education requirements at most transfer institutions.
The Social Science Division offers transfer courses in the Liberal Arts which provide enrichment and self-improvement opportunities and which also satisfy General Education and AA Degree graduation requirement. In order to earn an AA Degree, students must complete one of three patterns of General Education requirements, earn 60 college units, and complete an 18-unit concentration of courses. An 18-unit concentration in the Social Sciences is one of the most popular concentrations among students completing the AA Degree at Delta.
Students should consult a counselor and see a catalog for the intended transfer institution before making final course selections.
