The California Mini-Corps Program was initiated in 1967, patterned after the Peace Corps Program. A corps of college students with a rural migrant background was recruited to work as teacher assistants in migrant impacted summer schools.
California Mini-Corps at Delta College recruits bilingual, full-time students pursuing a career in education to provide educational services to migrant students in schools around San Joaquin County.

Kim Prescott has been teaching in public schools for 25 years. She has taught Education courses for San Joaquin Delta College since 2000, and developed the first online section for Education 10 in that same year. She also teaches elementary school in the Bay Area, and enjoys focusing on a balanced curriculum to include social, emotional, and physical as well as academic development for all children.
Kim attended UCSB, UOP, CSU Sacramento and Santa Clara Universities to obtain her teaching degrees and certifications. She is interested in utilizing a developmentally appropriate approach to education, incorporating components such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) design, Project-Based Learning, and Growth Mindset activities which help students to work through challenges and realize that effort and perseverance are key strategies to foster independence and success in learning.
