Units: 0.5 This topic course is the credit component of the Spring 2002 symposium of the same name. The course lectures revolve around the theme of conflict in the Middle East and its effect on the United States and American Culture. Topics include the history of conflict in the Middle East, the effects of American foreign policy politics in the Middle East, and how these phenomena have affected the American psyche and the relationship between religion and the use of terror. Units: 3 This course is an introduction to the immigrant experience in the United States. The course examines the racial, religious, and cultural values of ethnics groups which sustain the groups while perpetuating a pluralistic society in America, and it demonstrates that ethnic diversity is a major theme in the history of the United States. |

Units: 0.5 - 3 This course is designed to offer instruction in one or more of the specialized areas of Social Science not covered by the existing curriculum. Units earned in this course do not count toward an associate degree. |

Units: 1 This course is designed to give students college credit for on-the-job experience related to the major study field. Students must demonstrate new and expanded learning experiences before staff in the work experience office. This course may be replaced three times in sequence except for summer school alternate plan. |
