The Board of Trustees seeks an innovative, visionary leader who values the collaborative process. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person who has a passion for serving others. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an ability to:
- Be an accessible student-centered leader who will promote a positive atmosphere for student learning;
- Work collaboratively with an elected board of trustees, as well as be an advocate for collegial collaboration with an ability to forge consensus on difficult issues;
- Be able to build partnership and be visible and active within the District in developing community relationships that result in enhanced opportunities for students and the college;
- Demonstrate commitment to community leadership by active personal involvement and commitment;
- Lead and work effectively with faculty in pursuit of improvements that enrich the teaching/learning process and produce measurable student success;
- Lead with honesty and integrity in the preservation of academic freedom, thoughtful discourse, staff development, and constructive change;
- Be a compassionate leader with a commitment to all segments of the population;
- Be a skilled strategic planner who is experienced in financial management with success in fund raising and resource development;
- Lead creatively with vision toward easier access for residents through management of a projected multi-campus District;
- Be a technologically sophisticated educator with an understanding of how technology can benefit all segments of the District;
- Work collegially with faculty, students and staff in implementing educational policies;
- Demonstrate a sensitivity to and an understanding of diversity in all of its aspects;
- Build the image of the college through strong marketing skills and positive evidence of commitment to measurable results;
- Bring mutually beneficial results to a professional collective bargaining process carried out in a healthy environment;
- Communicate in a superior fashion through careful listening, effective speaking, and clear writing;
- Move to a rapid understanding of current regulations, programs, trends, and issues in California which are necessary to function effectively;
- Interpret educational policies to the public, including articulation with high schools, colleges and universities;
- Guide the planning and decision making for an ambitious list of construction and renovation projects over the next 20 years.
