“I’ve gotten to know everybody and make new friends. I remember on the first day we were supposed to go up and kind of introduce myself. Normally I would choke and stutter because I would be all nervous, but it turned out I didn’t. I’m braver than I was before and it was all thanks to this class.” Jamal W.
“The group work was an excellent way of opening up to others as well as building confidence. This class prepared me for the rest of college and for when I start my career.” Dan S.
“In the learning community I shared three classes with the same people, and at first I thought I was going to get annoyed seeing the same people every day. Now after being with them this whole fall semester I can honestly say I am going to miss all of them, and even my teachers.” Roy R.
“I really enjoyed being a part of the Learning Community. You get the chance to bond with your classmates and your teachers since you have them in all three classes. It’s a great chance to make new friends and improve your educational skills. I would definitely recommend these classes to another student.” Linda L.
“In my fall semester at Delta College I was enrolled in a “Learning Communities.” Thanks to the Learning Communities classes I was able to improve my writing and reading skills. I was also able to learn more about whom I am and where I’m heading. With the help of the great professors in each class I was able to become more self aware.”
Carmen M.
“Throughout the semester I have learned that reading and writing can be very fun if you know what you are doing. Professor Gillam has helped me to become a better writer and Professor Aubrey has helped me a lot with my reading. I never used to like reading. I have started reading the Twilight books and I am hooked on them. English is now one of my best subjects because I know what I am doing and I thank the learning community for helping me become a better student and a better learner.” Jose C.
“The learning community was very fun and exciting. I have met a lot of new friends that I will stay in contact with. I would recommend this type of program to anyone who want to become part of a family with kids from different backgrounds and lifestyles. I have learned so much from this and I am going to miss it.” Amanda B.
‘The Learning Community has really helped me grow as a student. I think the Learning Community really helps because we are all in the same classes so we can relate to each other when it comes to projects and studying. The group discussions really helped as well. They allow students to get involved. “ Shimika M.
“My overall experience in the learning community was amazing. I met new people and gained new friends. There were some ups and downs, but I love how I now have greater self-awareness and motivation to stay in school.” Leticia S.
“Math 80 was awesome. When Mrs. Hammer put us in groups to work on assignments it helped a lot. Getting to work together let us try to teach the other students who didn’t understand.” Anthony M.
“In Math 80 I have learned to like math again. I have learned that math can be easy if you just apply yourself.” Monique T.
“I will cherish the friendships that I have made during this experience for a life time. I truly believe that being apart of this experience has changed me for the better.” Kristen Z.
“Before I entered Ms. Hammers class math was not something that I enjoyed doing. Now I feel more confident and comfortable with my math skills. Now I enjoy doing math.” Cindy F.
