Beginning Fall 2007, San Joaquin Delta College will begin offering courses leading to a Associate of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. The specific courses required for completion of the certificate/degree are listed in the college catalog. The on-line catalog may be viewed by accessing the Delta College home page: www.deltacollege.edu; click on college catalog; click on AS degrees. The degree is listed as Communication: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. (description of courses). Students must complete a minimum of 25 units from San Joaquin Delta College to qualify for the degree. This may be accomplished by successfully completing the six communication disorders courses offered either on-line or at the San Rosa campus in addition to two on-line elective courses.
The Delta College program is accredited by the California Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. Completion of the program can qualify the student for licensure as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant. Students will need to enroll at San Joaquin Delta College and complete the enrollment requirements and processes in order to register for classes. Step-by-step instructions for enrolling at the college and registering for classes are listed below.
1. Enrollment into the college is done on-line only. Access the college home page at
www.deltacollege.edu and click on “New Students Begin Here”. Read all the
instructions carefully then click on the link for the on-line application. Complete the
application and click the submit button.
2. The second step of enrollment deals with assessment testing. If you have a prior
AA, AS, BS, BA or higher degree you will be exempt from assessment testing.
You must indicate your past college attendance and degrees on the on-line application.
You must then verify your prior degrees by mailing or faxing a copy of one of the
following: 1) academic history showing awarding of degree; or 2) diploma; or 3)
unofficial transcript showing posting of the degree. If you have not earned a prior
degree or completed assessment testing, you may complete the assessment testing
required at Santa Rosa Community College. Obtain an official copy of your results
and either mail or fax this information to the college. You may access the Santa Rosa

Please be sure you complete this requirement as soon as possible to ensure a smooth
registration into the communication disorder courses.
3. Be sure to read the information regarding email accounts when you are completing the
enrollment process. All college communication will be sent via the college email
address.
4. The college requires 24 hours from the time the application is submitted to create an
email account and determine a registration date and time. This information will be
sent to the student via the student’s college email account. The home page discusses
the process for accessing this email account for the first time.
5. The SLPA program requires courses in the major and general education courses which
are unique to the degree/certificate. If you have completed coursework at another
community college, CSU or UC, you will need to submit an OFFICIAL transcript
from each college you attended to be evaluated for equivalency to Delta College
coursework. Delta College is in the process of determine articulated and equivalent
courses with Santa Rosa Community College. It is extremely important that each
student submit their transcripts early in order to allow adequate time to complete
any other required general education courses. Information regarding the process for

requesting a transcript evaluation including the need for course descriptions. Also

5. Prior to beginning your laboratory experiences, additional information including
TB skin test results will be required. Prior to receiving licensure you will be required
to complete and clear a fingerprinting background check. This will be discussed
more in your classes.
6. At the completion of the program, you will be eligible to apply for licensure from
the state of California as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. Click on this

This articulation agreement sets forth the requirements necessary to complete the SLPA
Associate of Science Degree granted through San Joaquin Delta College for students who
chose to enroll in specified degree applicable coursework at Santa Rosa Junior College.
This agreement identifies SJDC required courses with comparable courses at SRJC where
available. The student may complete all general education courses through enrollment at
SRJC. All Area of concentration courses indicated with an * must be taken through
SJDC, either onsite at SRJC, or online at www.deltacollege.edu. For additional
