The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program prepares students with entry-level skills and knowledge to practice in the role of a EMT-1 in a pre-hospital setting. Graduates receive a certificate of completion and are prepared to successfully complete the certification examination to obtain a certificate as an EMT-1 in California. The program consists of one semester course with lecture, skills lab, and clinical observation components.
Employment opportunities are good locally for EMT-1. Most are employed by ambulance companies or the fire department. Salary ranges are approximately $13-$20 per hour.
"The College will offer EMT courses Fall 2012 through the Spring term of 2013. After July 1, 2013, the college's program will no longer be certified, and the college will not offer classes beyond that date due to budget constraints."
