Scott Bowen is a native of Southern California and received his musical education at the University of Southern California. In his thirty year career as a distinguished choral educator, Dr. Bowen has taught and conducted choral singing at virtually every educational and community level. He has served on the faculties of Southeastern Louisiana University, the University of Southern California, the Nevada School of the Arts, and the Idyllwild Arts Academy. He is past conductor of the Baton Rouge Symphony Chorus and has conducted the Stockton Symphony and appeared as Guest Conductor of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Bowen has served as adjudicator, clinician and conductor of numerous honor choirs, festivals and choral workshops in the United States, Mexico and Australia. He has also served on the Boards of the Southern California Vocal Association and the Music Association of California Community Colleges (MACCC).

Choral ensembles under Dr. Bowen’s direction have toured nationally and internationally, have appeared on local and national television and radio broadcasts, and have been invited to perform at conferences of the American Choral Directors Association and MACCC.

Dr. Bowen was appointed to the faculty of San Joaquin Delta College in 1992, where he serves as Director of Choral Activities and Coordinator of Applied Music Studies.

The study of choral and vocal music is a vigorous component of the outstanding music department at San Joaquin Delta College. The College's distinguished faculty has shaped a comprehensive lower division curriculum for music majors that is unsurpassed in its excellence and offerings among any of the California Community Colleges.
