William comes to the Horton Gallery from his previous position as Consultant/Exhibition Designer for Trumbull Art Gallery in Warren, Ohio. He is a celebrated interdisciplinary artist and has over 10 years of professional experience working with arts organizations and exhibitions. He currently serves as the Gallery's first Technician and a Selection Panel Member for the City of Stockton's Public Art Program. Born in 1970 in Youngstown, Ohio; the son of William & Frances, Mr. Wilson went on to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Youngstown State University in 1993 while building an extensive exhibition record in Northeastern Ohio. In 1990, he co-founded The Bone Hole, a collective studio in the dilapidated downtown of the city which served as home to over a dozen artists, writers and musicians whose agenda was to culturally reinvigorate the area. In 1991, William became part of the inaugural staff at the McDonough Museum of Art on the campus of Youngstown State University. Throughout the 90s he maintained a focused presence in the creative community as an invited artist to the first Lollapalooza Tour, the Director/Producer of Spectacle (Youngstown/Warren's first exposure to large scale collaborative performance art) and as Artist in Residence at the Atlantic Center for the Arts (New Smyrna Beach, Florida - Fall 1998) working on the Mexterminator2 project with Master Artists Guillermo Gomez-Pena, Roberto Sifuentes and Sara Shelton Mann. In addition, William worked for 6 years as an Illustrator in the memorials industry and has been operating Rhinohead Productions, (named for his status as an activist in the rhinoceros conservation movement) as a freelance Creative Consultant, since 1993. |
