In this accelerated program, cohorts of students will enroll in prescribed classes that meet two evenings per week at the Gladys Benerd School of Education on the campus of the University of the Pacific. Classes are eight weeks in length. Students will complete two classes in each of two eight-week sessions over the course of a semester for a total of four courses each semester.
Prior to starting classes, each cohort will complete a one-unit bridge course that orients students to the University of the Pacific and to the Delta Pacific Early Childhood Development Program. Included in the bridge course, which will meet over three Saturdays, is an overview and academic preparation for the Bachelor’s program, acquainting students with campus resources, and introduction to the required e-portfolio.
The Bachelor’s Program will include 12-18 upper division units in Early Childhood Development and related courses as well as 12 upper division units in Special Education. Upper division General Education courses as required for graduation will also be included, as will elective choices. A minimum of 124 semester units (counting courses that have been transferred from San Joaquin Delta College) is required for the Bachelor’s Degree.
