This course will introduce students to forecasting and its use by the creative design industries with the aim of developing an intuitive and intellectual approach to predicting future fashion and interiors trends. The course will provide students with in-depth knowledge of the relationship between forecasting, trend prediction, marketing, economics and style movements. The student will develop research skills in historical context, consumer trends and buying patterns, fads, crazes and cults, all of which play a part in the analysis of style movements. ID 056 Internship and Portfolio Development for Fashion & Interiors Prerequisites: FASH 002, Introduction to the Fashion Industry, with a grade of "C" or better or ID 002, Introduction to Interior Design, with a grade of "C" or better. This course is designed to enable the fashion and interiors student to apply professional industry principles to job situations. Experience gained as a result of this course familiarizes the student with career options and the necessary skills and preparation to obtain them. The course will provide students with the current portfolio requirements for the fashion and interiors industries. Students will be required to obtain an internship opportunity while enrolled in this class. Job placement is not guaranteed but assistance is provided by the instructor. (CSU).
