This program prepares the student for entry into the accounting field as a tax preparer. Taxation is a complex and challenging area of the accounting profession. Due to the constantly changing tax laws, the tax preparer is closely involved with individuals making personal tax decisions. The responsibilities of tax preparers include tax planning and advice, tax return and supporting document preparation, representation of clients before governmental agencies, and other assistance to clients in complying with the tax laws. Persons completing this program may register with the Department of Consumer Affairs, State of California, as a tax preparer and should contact them for specific requirements.
