Molly Mordaunt began as head volleyball coach for the Delta College Mustangs in 2011. In her first season as head coach, she led her team to a record of 20-8, tied for second in the Big 8 conference, 3rd in Northern California and a 7th place state final ranking. During that season, she produced three All-Conference players, and one All Nor-Cal player. In Molly’s second season she produced one All-Conference player and one All- Conference honorable mention player and both athletes are continuing their careers with scholarships at 4-year schools.
Previously, Mordaunt was an assistant coach at Delta for three seasons under head coach Michaela Reyes. She helped guide the Mustangs to three state championship elite eight finishes along with one conference championship, producing 3 All State players along with 6 All Conference players.
Mordaunt began her coaching career at St. Mary's High School, leading her freshman squad to an undefeated league title. She then moved on to the varsity girl’s volleyball coach at her alma mater, Lincoln High School where her team placed first in league during the 2005 season. From 2007-2008, Molly was the assistant coach at the University of the Pacific and her job duties focused on fundamental skills training, defense, recruiting, alumni relations and the running of the Pacific youth volleyball camps.
Mordaunt played volleyball at the University of the Pacific for four years and the team was ranked in the top 25 national polls during her four-year career. While at Pacific, Molly was a Big West All Academic Scholar Athlete and a Pacific Scholar athlete. She was voted by her teammates as the most inspirational player. As a high school player, Mordaunt helped Lincoln High School claim back-to-back Sac-Joaquin Section and Northern California Regional Division 1 championships in 1998 and 1999. The team finished their 1998 season ranked 2nd in the state with a national ranking of 6th in the country. Mordaunt has been coaching at the club level since 2004 and most recently helped to start a new volleyball club in Stockton.
In addition to coaching volleyball, Molly is a physical education teacher at Annunciation School in Stockton. She is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Kinesiology at St. Mary’s College in Moraga. Along with her career as a former player, teacher and coach, Mordaunt brings to the volleyball court an intense love and a passion to teach athletes the fundamentals of the game.
Patty Paniagua joined as an assistant volleyball coach of the Delta College Mustangs in 2011. In her first season as assistant coach, she helped lead the lady mustangs to a record of 20-8, tied for second in the Big 8 conference, 3rd in Northern California and a state finish of 7th. In her second season she helped lead the Mustangs with their offense specifically working with our Middle Blockers.
Paniagua, completed her playing career in the fall of 2009 for the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In her first season playing at UAB, they finished 27-8 in 2008, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The team finished the season ranked No. 22 in the Country; one of its most successful seasons in school history. Paniagua was ranked second on the team with 0.63 blocks per set. In 2009, Patty had 21 kills and 17 blocks against Central Florida and Southern Mississippi, which earned her a Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week award.
Her college playing experience started in 2006 attending Arizona Western College. As a sophomore in 2007, Paniagua was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-America Division 1 second team. She was on the All-Region I team and was the ACCAC Conference's Player of the Year. She led the Matadors to a record of 26-9 and led the Arizona Community College Athletic Association with 1.59 blocks per game, and 3.85 kills per game. She also earned three ACCAC Player of the Week awards, along with a NJCAA Division I Hitter of the Week honors. Patty helped the Matadors win their eight straight Region I title, where she earned Most Valuable Player.
Paniagua, attended Tokay High School where she received first-team All-Area and Tri-City Athletic League Most Valuable Player honors as a senior in 2006.
Paniagua was a great college player and is highly experienced. Her competitive spirit, and passion is a tremendous asset to our program. We are blessed to have someone with Patty’s playing and coaching experience to help lead our Mustangs. Patty is currently in her third year of law school.
