WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL Head Coach, Michaela Reyes Michaela is entering her second season as the head volleyball coach for the Delta Lady Mustangs. As a first year coach she enjoyed a high level of success after guiding the Lady Mustangs to another Big 8 Conference championship. They entered the State Volleyball Tournament as the number one seed, having won all of their games up to the state tournament. They were ranked #1 in Northern California after beating all of the top teams in the north and winning all of the tournaments they participated in, including the prestigious San Diego Mesa Invitational. She was named Coach of the Year for the Big 7 Conference and later named Coach of the Year for Northern California. Michaela bagan playing at the age of 10 on a 14 and under club. Having been a 4 year varsity starter on her Tokay High School volleyball team she earned a Division I scholarship to San Diego State University where she played 4 years including one in which her team qualified for the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. While at San Diego State she was involved in developmental clinics with the San Diego youth in the off season. After graduating, she coached with the San Diego Volleyball Club team for 2 years and officiated high school girls, boys and college men's and women's volleyball. In 2004 Michaela moved back to Stockton to take a teachng position at St. Mary's High School, and coached the Sophomore volleyball team. The two seasons she coached at St. Mary's, her sophomores were undefeated in their conference. Her passion for coaching volleyball is the reason she has chosen to coach at Delta College. She hopes to impact her players with her passion, drive, intensity and knowledge that has enabled her to be successful in all facets of her volleyball career. She is well prepared and very excited to be at the helm of the Delta College Volleyball Program. She lives in Stockton with her husband Jesus, and their dog Lola.
Assistant Coach, Dana Childress Dana Comes to Delta as a first year assistant coach with a wealth of experience. As an athlete she played beyond high school volleyball at Tokay High School where she graduated in 1992. She played club for Club Stockton as well as Delta Valley between 1982 and 1992. Upon graduating from high school she attended the University of Nevada,Reno on a full ride volleyball scholarship from 1992-1994. She transfered to California Polytechnic State University where she continued playing volleyball and graduated with a degree in Speech Communication in 1997. Upon graduation she has coached various camps and clubs, including 18's for club Cambria (1995-1997) and 16's at Club Stockton (2003-2005). Her most recent coaching has been at the high school level as the varsity coach at Tokay High School since January 2003-June 2007. Dana brings a high level of enthusiasm and interest in improving the level of volleyball in the Stockton/Lodi community. Dana has been married to Wesley for 8 years and together the have 2 children: Mariah and Morgan.
Assistant Coach, Don Tran Don has been playing volleyball since attending Lincoln High School. At Lincoln he played club for several years. After high school, Don went to Austin Community College where he continued playing club volleyball. He returned to California and took classes both at Sacramento City College and Delta College respectively. He presently resides in Sacramento with his wife and two children: Dana who is 4 1/2 and Scott who is 1 1/2. He enjoys volleyball and is happy to have the opportunity to work with Delta Lady Mustangs as a first year assistant coach. |
