Head Coach, Mike Maroney Mike Maroney begins his second year as Head Men's & Women's Swimming coach here at San Joaquin Delta. During Coach Maroney's first season, the Men's team produced a dual meet record of 2-3, and placing 1st overall in the, Solano Invite and 6th at the NorCal Relatys. Two school record's were broken in 2007. Nick Fadden broke the 50 Free record with a time of 21.44. Fadden, along with Scott Ruitenbeek, Steve Salisbury, and Joe Greisen set the school mark in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:27.73. Which was the 15th fastest time in 2007 Jr. College Swimming, earning the four All-American honors. The Women's team finished the dual meet season with a 1-5 record and placed 4th at the Solanoe Invitational, and 6th at the NorCal relays. Alison Scott made All-American accolades in the 50 yard breatstroke with a time of 32.80, which the 12th fastest JC time in the country. Coach Maroney joined Delta College as the Men's Water Polo and Swim Coach in Spring 2008. Coach Maroney came to Delta from the University of the Pacific where he served as Aquatics Director and Head Men's Water Polo Coach for five years. He also was the Head Women's Water Polo/Physical Education Instructor at Hartwick College from 1999-2003. Over the last eight seasons as a collegiate coach, Maroney has compiled a 134-116 record, including five seasons with 15 or more wins. Maroney was also named coach of the year on five occasions (ECAC 2001, CWPA 1999 and 2000, USWP 2002 and 2005) and has coached 21 All-Americans and 22 All-Conference student athletes. In 1999, Maroney earned his master's degree in physical education from Texas A & M Corpus Christi. He graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1993, where he received his bachelor's degree in sports sciences. While attending Pacific, he was an All-Big West Conference swimmer and water polo player. Before attending Pacific, Maroney was an All-American swimmer at Long Beach City College, where he also helped the water polo team win the 1988 State Championship with a perfect 32-0 record. Maroney is a native of Baytown, Texas. He and his wife Jennifer have three children, Clay (8), Connor (10), and Tyler (13) and reside in Stockton. Assistant Coach, Todd Herrington Todd Herrington begins his 1st season as assistant coach for the Men's & Women's Swim Team. Coach Herrington will focus on team conditioning and recruiting for the Aquatic team. Although Herrington is new to the Delta Swim Team Family, he is not new to Delta. Herrington is the Defensive Coordinator on the Delta Football Team and and has been with the program for the last twelve years. His primary duty as Defensive Coordinator entails planning and organizing the Mustangs’ defensive efforts. He also coaches the defensive line. Todd graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1988. While there, he played linebacker in1985, 1986 and 1987. He later earned his M.A. there in 1995. Prior to attending UOP, he played linebacker at Fullerton College during the 1983 and 1984 seasons. These teams compiled a record of 20-1-1. The 1983 teams won the Junior College National Championship. Todd and his wife Kari reside in Stockton. They have three daughters; Karly, Katelyne, and Taitum. |
